  • "We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The best things were the location and the inside of the apartment. The apartment is located in the middle of a cute, picturesque European village straight off a postcard, within walking distance of everything - the beach, shops, restaurants, and the highway. There are a lot of steps, though. The inside of the apartment was clean, bright, and airy. I loved that my family was able to spread out across 3 bedrooms instead of all 4 of us being crammed into a hotel room. The apartment is new with modern fixtures and in great condition. The owner lives below, and he was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and accommodating. We felt perfectly safe walking around because the area was very well lit, and cars passing through were minimal. The locals were mostly friendly. We would stay here again."

Views were spectacular and our lovely, kind, helpful and generous host had done some grocery shopping for us as we were arriving after midnight. Our fridge was fully stocked. He also left some lovely red and white wine for us and a bottle of raki as a gift. The day before we left he told me that we could stay in the apartment until two p.m. instead of a checkout if 11am - which just finished off a perfect stay for us."

The apartment itself is very well cared for and comfortable for a family. We give it full stars. The beds provided good rests and the kitchen was equipped to make meals. The balcony was a highlight as it has a commanding view of the surroundings."

Panormo

Panormo village 2Panormo is a romantic, picturesque, seaside village developed in a lovely small bay which is located 22 km east from Rethymnon. It still has the air of a fishing, quiet village with a few traditional tavernas and cafe-bars and a couple of good sandy beaches in the village.

We strongly recommend Panormo for couples or families looking for tranquility and hospitality far from the overdeveloped villages of north Crete.

The ancient town of Panormo flourised here from 1st to the 9th century AD when it was destroyed by the Saracens. There is a post office, ATM machine and a new cultural centre provided in the village of Panormo. A tourist mini-train leaves from the main street for the nearby Melidoni Cave and the pottery village of Margarites.
