Tavronitis is a small seaside village, 18 km west of Chania, a tranquil village with a lovely, sandy beach and a linear centre with shops, traditional cafes and tavernas.
The sandy beach is well organised offering a few restaurants and cafes, and facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas, sea sports etc). You can visit Tavronitis by using public bus running regularly and taxi from Chania, as well as by private and rented car and motorbikes.
A few more lovely sandy beaches can be found in short driving distance. Platanias (6 km east, very lively centre), Kolymbari (5 km west, a beach with pebbles and sand), offer lovely beaches. Especially in Platanias village our guests can find a wide range of bars (try the bar Mylos and the Gorgones and Mages with greek music), cafes (Utopia, Splendid), tavernas (try the Mylos tou Kerata), and shops, and supermarkets.
While staying in the Tavronitis village the guests of Crete should also visit the excellent unique beaches of Falassarna and Elafonisi located on this west side of the island.
