From the point of enquiring about our booking, right through to the end of our stay, my family and I felt reassured and well taken care of.
After booking and in the lead up to our stay, TheHotel.gr made sure we had plenty of information about the villa, the local area and Crete in general as well as being quick to answer any queries we had. They kept us well informed about what to do on arrival and their website is very informative.
During our stay, we felt very well taken care of. On arrival there was water and a delicious snack in the fridge, perfect for a large family of hungry travelers. The staff were available when we needed them. They brought us a lovely welcome gift of local produce and checked in by email to make sure everything was okay. Cleaners came in every few days to do a quick refresh and to change sheets and towels.
They managed to keep a good balance by being very attentive, but not at all intrusive on our privacy.
The villa itself is large with good sized bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms to each room. The kitchen is small, but adequate for a holiday and is open to the living space which is open, airy (high ceilings) and bright. The air conditioners all worked well and we enjoyed the novelty of the pool being inside and out!
Our villa (Villa Athina) also had the advantage of being slightly more private than some of the others. As our pool area was not looked over by any of the neighbors. (We looked out onto others).
A few basics in the kitchen would have been appreciated. Such as cooking oil, salt and pepper and perhaps some lighters/ charcoal for the bbq. We had hoped to use the bbq during our stay, but were put off by having to buy absolutely everything. Also, the situation of the bbq inside the living space (although with possibility to open all doors) meant it was not safe or practical for us to use with so many children in the house.
We asked if some dishwashing liquid and a cloth could be provided to hand wash kitchen items. We were told these items aren't normally provided, but they would do so as requested (and were brought to our villa within the hour which we appreciated). These items are not things international visitors would normally pack for a self-catering holiday and is an expense to purchase when only using for a few days. They are basic amenities and would have made things that little bit more comfortable from the first instance.
My general experience with TheHotel.gr has been very positive. The experience was made to feel very friendly and personal. All members of staff were incredibly attentive and I felt that there was a combined effort to make sure our holiday experience from booking to check-out was as easy and pleasant as it possibly could be.
I would recommend this holiday villa to friends who are interested in Crete as a holiday destination.
Very impressed with the customer service and hope more companies could be as hospitable!
