"We spent a really memorable, beautiful week in Meskla in this wonderful house! We visited in mid April and the smell of orange blossom was amazing in the morning, and everywhere was lush and green. The location is perfect for exploring the mountains and foothills of the lefki ora, the village has a lovely taverna next to a pretty river and natural spring, and you can drive to Skines or Chania quickly if you need anything extra."

We enjoyed such a wonderful stay at Villa Roxani! The facilities were brilliant and it was such a relaxing stay. We loved the outside cooking area, we barely cooked indoors at all! The pool was great and so refreshing in the heat! Everything was so homely and comfortable! I miss getting up to the views over the village and the hills. The village itself was so peaceful and the taverna Halaris is a must! The Sarakina gorge is just 15 mins walk away and worth a visit! You'll need a car as the village is a short drive from Chania and the beaches. There's so much to visit anyway, it's well worth it! If peace and tranquility and genuine comfort in a genuine Cretan village is your thing. then Villa Roxani is ideal!

We had a wonderful time at the villa I can't recommend it enough. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with everything you need and the outside pool, kitchen and lounge area is stunning and peaceful with the most beautiful views. Meskla is an idyllic village location, nestled in the lush green mountains; perfect as a base for exploring Chania and the surrounding area. Make sure to take a short walk to the traditional taverna by the large Meskla church; it's a magical place for dinner. Manolis is a warm and accommodating host, on hand for anything you might need.

Villa Roxani has lovely mountain views and is a peaceful place to stay in Crete. Manolis and his family are very kind and helpful! The villa is located in a small town away from the main town Chania, but also close enough to drive to for a visit. It is a good spot to explore the west side of the island with a car. There is a good sized supermarket 20 mins drive away and a few local tavernas close by with traditional, tasty food. The villa is authentically decorated which adds to the Cretan experience. The pool is perfect for a dip to cool off, the water is from the white mountains so very fresh. We really enjoyed our stay at the villa, thank you!!

We had a fabulous time at Villa Roxani. The villa has all the amenities you could want and Manolis was very helpful both before and throughout our stay. The children loved the pool and we all really enjoyed using the outdoor area for eating and sunbathing with beautiful views across the valley. There are some lovely tavernas in the area and many beaches within a 25-30 minute drive. Highly recommend.

The villa is lovely and has everything you will need for your stay. We were immediately made to feel welcome (raki!). There is a large, lime-tree-shaded terrace that offers a good view over the village, to the mountains. The decor is a pleasant mix of the traditional and the more contemporary. There are a few (albeit quite poorly stocked) shops and a bakery within five minutes' walk of the villa. The Halaris taverna has good food, including good veggie/vegan options (the orange juice alone is worth the trip), and it's a good location for walks. You'll need a car to get out to the coast, or into Chania, as buses are very infrequent. The only disadvantage, and it must be borne in mind that the villa is in the heart of agricultural country, is the noise. Dogs and roosters can be a problem, but you get used to it quickly. Otherwise, Meskla is a charming place. And it helps if you like cats. Maria at TheHotel.gr was very professional, responsive and cheerful. I didn't deal with any other staff, but I have no hesitation in recommending the company. Meskla is possibly an underrated location (or perhaps there's not much holiday accommodation available) , but it is central to the west of the island and the coast is only about 50 minutes' drive in any direction (except east). We found it convenient for the Samaria Gorge, Chania Old Town, beautiful beaches and other places, such as the Valsamioti Dam and Agia Lake. The sea is extraordinarily clear, visibility for snorkelling is in the tens of metres. It's also surprisingly green for a mountainous, dry area; water doesn't seem to be difficult to come by as many of the groves are irrigated via miles and miles of pipes.

The house itself is cool, quiet, and functional. Meskla and the surrounding mountain villages are beautiful to visit, hike, and drive, and well placed for day trips to Samaria, Agia Irini, Sarakina gorges.

The Villa Roxani in Meskla is the perfect location for everyone who wants to get away from mainstream tourist attractions an experience the natural spirit of Crete. The owner Mr. Manolis & his mama were the nicest hosts we ever had - offering us a warm welcome with raki & homemade cheese. Emmanuel & Yannis gave us fast & professional help for all our needs. Meskla itself is a quiet little village with an excellent tavern & great hikes through forests, mountains & canyons to beautiful mountain-villages Zouvra & Lakki.
